Sunday, a return guest to our congregation was having problems. Like her previous visits, she sat on the back row near the door. She came for a quick dose of encouragement and an even speedier escape. There are many folks who attend church each week with this same plan in mind – hear some good news and encouraging words and then make it out the back door before they can be engaged in conversation.

Keep track of your quite times and Bible reading. These items are only for your eyes and your personal knowledge.
The Gift of a Can Opener
Today’s Bible verse begins, “Every good and perfect gift is from above…” When my son Ezekiel was born, I received a card with that Bible verse on it. I thought it was quite appropriate. He definitely was a gift from God. What I find amazing is that sometimes little things, things I find less important, can also be classified as gifts from God.

How is your prayer life? Do you tell folks you’ll pray for them and never do it? I plead guilty to that sometimes. Mostly, that has been in my past prayer life. Today I called a gentleman from church. He needed prayers. I was about to tell him, “I’ll pray for you.” Instead, I said, “Before we get off the phone I want to pray with you.” That was a good thing. He appreciated the time in prayer.
